MathSoft Engineering & Education, Inc., the leading provider of interactive math, science and engineering software products and content, announced today that Mathcad has received the 2001 "Readers' Choice Award" for Best Mathematical Software from Scientific Computing & Instrumentation, the leading publication for computing, automation and instrumentation news for scientists and engineers. This is the eighth year out of the last nine that the magazine's readers have recognized Mathcad as the leading product in mathematical software.

"MathSoft has focused on innovation with every release of Mathcad, and SC&I's readers have continually recognized and rewarded our efforts," said Chris Randles, president and CEO of MathSoft. "We appreciate the technology-savvy readers of this publication for recognizing MathSoft's consistent success in raising the bar for mathematical software."

Winners of Scientific Computing & Instrumentation's 2001 Readers' Choice Awards were determined by an open ballot in the print and online editions of the publication. Mathcad was selected as the top mathematical software for its support of interactive math via MathML (Mathematical Markup Language), a new high-performance calculation engine, improved memory management and reliability and new analysis for region dependencies.
